What FUPTP Means to Me Written by an FUPTP mentee at Westside Academy I

FAMILY - It is our duty and responsibility to be a family and treat others as we would want to be treated. It means loving each other and having respect for each other no matter if you are friends with someone, or you really don't know that person very well.

UNITED - It is our part to come together as one. We are to become one and not walk alone, but walk together to make a difference in our school and in a child's life. It is hard to become a family without being united and in FUPTP, united we are.

PREVENT - We are here not only to respect each other but also to care about another person's decisions. We try to prevent things like pregnancy and drugs. We are here to help anyone who needs help with school, relationships, and anything that feels like pressure.

FUPTP deals with you. It is not about your teacher, parents or anyone else but you. Everyone in FUPTP is treated equally. It is all about helping each other out and working together. No matter how bad the times may be, it is our responsibility to get through it together.

PREGNANCY - Our main concern in FUPTP is pregnancy, but we are also concerned with things that deal with everyday living. We talk about walking the streets alone, seeing the drug dealers and the kids who are headed down the wrong path.

FUPTP is a family. It is not a gang in the street who claim to be a family, but a gang that really is your family and helps you through the tough times. FUPTP was good to me. I once had the lowest self-esteem and I felt isolated from the world. FUPTP showed me there was more to myself. I don't have to listen to people who let me down, who like to talk about you and spread rumors. These people can't ruin your reputation, only you can, and FUPTP showed me this.

FUPTP means a lot to me and it means a lot to others too. FAMILIES UNITED TO PREVENT TEEN PREGNANCY, it says everything it means in the title. So next time you are looking for someone to talk to or somewhere to belong, come to FUPTP. Everyone has a place there.
