This summer, Rosalie Manor worked with the Milwaukee Public Schools Recreation department to deliver a fun and exciting four week Wrap-Around program at Westside Academy I. This program offered students various recreational activities before and after their regular summer school hours. Some of the activities included sports, arts and crafts, reading and drawing, and a multitude of games. Students also came together each Friday for a special theme day and event. This summer, themes included Under the Sea, Picnic, Popcorn and Movie, and Everybody's Birthday. Our students ranged from Kindergartners to Third graders, and each student was able to experience education and fun outside of the school grounds. Our kindergarten and first graders went to Havenwoods State Forest, where they learned about various animals and their homes. We even had a chance to view and pet real animals! Our second grade class had fun learning about the body's Circulatory System at the Children's Health Education Center. The students walked through a life size maze of the heart, and they listened to their own heart beating! The third graders went to the IMAX Dome Theater, where they were treated to the Greatest Survival Story of All Time, also known as Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure. Rosalie Manor would like to send a special thanks to our wonderful program staff, students and all of the amazing and accommodating staff at our various field trip locations. You all helped make this summer's Wrap-Around program a success!
