Grand Opening! The Family Resource Center of Sherman Park

(Drum rolls please!) Announcing…. The Gra-a-and Opening of… the Family Resource Center of Sherman Park!

Funded by the Children's Trust Fund, the Family Resource Center of Sherman Park is a collaboration among Children's Service Society of Wisconsin, Rosalie Manor Community & Family Services, and Trinity Presbyterian Church. The Family Resource Center, located at 3302 North Sherman Boulevard (Trinity Presbyterian Church), opened in fall. Some of the programming offered includes parenting classes, a resource library, in-home parent education, arts and crafts for children, Drop-in Playtime, Diaper Bag Club, Family Reading Circle, and Family Fun Nights. The new center serves parents who have children aged five and under. All the activities and programs are FREE of charge and are open to everyone in the community.

Rosalie Manor is facilitating three group sessions including a Today's Dads support group, Baby & Me, and Teen Talk. Programming such as a grandparent support group, a health fair, prenatal classes, and smoking cessation group will be added in the near future.

Viola Rembert, the Manager of the Family Resource Center, stated, "The Family Resource Center is an asset to the community. The first years of a child's life are the most important, and the Family Resource Center will work with families to help in the development of their children."

The Family Resource Center strives to meet the needs of the families in the community through provision of resources and programs that aim to strengthen families and development of children.
