FUPTP's Phenomenal Women
Each year, Families United to Prevent Teen Pregnancy (FUPTP) sponsors a Phenomenal Woman essay contest in which participants write about a special woman in their life. This year's Phenomenal Woman was Sylvia Earl, whose son, Armondo Blair, attends Sherman Multi-Cultural Arts School. We congratulate Ms. Earl on her award!
ESSAY:
I think my mom is a phenomenal woman because she's a single parent that takes care of business. She's a very hard worker who takes care of the elderly and she loves her job. She is so special to my sister and I. In fact, we struggled through the years going back and forth living with family and friends. Although she was so stressed she held everything together and I'm proud of her. I think my mom is a strong woman. My mom was a teen parent. She stayed in school, graduated and went straight to college to better herself and have a better life for my sister and I. She was the only child herself and didn't have her father around. She said it was hard but she got through it. She told me her grandmother passed away holding her hand and felt that God took her guardian but sent her an angel and that's when I was born. I also think that she is very respectful because she says excuse me, please, thank you, and your welcome. I think she is a nice person because when she drives the cheerleaders to the game I think that's nice. My mom is important to me so much I just want my mom to win the prize.
